The 2025 Ferrari Challenge Australasia kicked off at Mount Panorama, delivering high-speed action on one of the world’s toughest circuits. With a competitive grid and the debut of the Ferrari 296 Challenge, drivers pushed the limits in two thrilling races.
Race 1: Gittany Triumphs, Campbell in the Mix
The first race saw Antoine Gittany take victory after a battle with Ernst Kirchmayr, who retired mid-race after clipping the wall. Rod Wilson and Jim Pollicina completed the podium, showcasing strong race craft. Cameron Campbell made a solid start for Campbell Racing Team, starting fifth and holding his own against seasoned competitors. Despite some early first corner contact the drive secured him a strong fifth-place finish, laying the foundation for an even stronger Race 2.
Race 2: Campbell Climbs the Ranks
With warmer conditions on Day 2, drivers improved their pace. Gittany once again took control, securing back-to-back wins, while Pollicina fought hard for second. Cameron Campbell’s performance was a highlight for the Campbell Racing Team. Starting fifth, Campbell exhibited exceptional speed, notably becoming the first driver to tackle The Chase at the end of Conrod Straight without lifting off the accelerator, reaching speeds around 300 km/h. This daring maneuver contributed to his advancement, culminating in a third-place finish. Campbell’s podium placement underscored his rapid adaptation and competitiveness within the series.
Looking Ahead to Phillip Island
With Bathurst behind them, Campbell Racing Team now looks ahead to Phillip Island on April 5th. Known for its flowing, high-speed layout, the circuit will offer new challenges, but with Campbell’s growing confidence and race craft, he’s primed to fight for more podiums as the season progresses.
